On 23.12.2019 in Strumica was held the kick-off press conference of the project "Joint actions for prevention and reduction of the consequences of disasters in the municipalities of Sandanski and Radovish”, who will be implemented in partnership with the municipality of Sandanski from the Republic of Bulgaria and the municipality of Radovis.
The press conference was hosted by the Centre for development of the South-East planning region, where as guests were present the project partners from the municipality of Sandanski, Bulgaria, as well as representatives from the municipality of Radovis.
The press conference started with a welcoming speech by Ms. Zhulieta Gjurkova, Manger of the Centre for development of the South-East planning region, as well as a Manager of the project.
"Data from the last 20 years show that the South-East region is most often affected by floods and because of that strong cross-border cooperation in order to prevent and reduce the consequences of disasters is needed" - said Ms. Gjurkova.
The conference continued with a presentation by Ms. Marija Bandulova, Technical Assistant of the project, who presented the goals, activities and results that will be achieved with the implementation of the project that will improve the quality of life of the citizens in the cross-border region, Increased safety from natural disasters and will enable the arrangement of a 624-meter-long section of the Sushica River bed.
