On July 31, 2019 in the Municipality of Radovish, between the Manager of the Centre for development of the South-East planning region, Ms. Zhulieta Gjurkova and the Mayor of the Municipality of Radovish, Mr. Gerasim Konzulov, an agreement for joint realization of the project "Joint actions for prevention and reduction of the consequences of disasters in the municipalities of Sandanski and Radovish" was signed. The project is implemented by the Centre for development of the South-East planning region in partnership with the Municipality of Radovish. Lead partner of the project is the municipality of Sandanski from R.Bulgaria.
Subject of this Agreement is joint implementation of the project "Joint actions for prevention and reduction of the consequences of disasters in the municipalities of Sandanski and Radovish" which includes infrastructure activities by arranging part of the Sushica River in the municipality of Radovish as the final beneficiary of the project.
With this project the riverbed of the river Sushica will be arranged and regulated. Additionally, afforestation and reforestation of the river basin is also predicted. These activities will lead towards reduction of the negative consequences of floods and adaptation to future climate change. The same activities will be implemented on the other side of the border in Municipality of Sandanski, which will improve the quality of life of the citizens in the cross-border region by increasing the safety from natural disasters.
